Cucumber Chartreuse
Cucumber and basil muddled into a margarita build, with half an ounce of green Chartreuse behind them. The Chartreuse is a seasoning here, not a base: it sharpens the garden notes rather than replacing them.

Ingredients
2 oz blanco tequila
0.75 oz fresh lime juice
0.5 oz green Chartreuse
0.5 oz agave nectar (2:1 agave to water)
2 cucumber slices

Method
- Muddle the cucumber and basil in the bottom of a shaker until the cucumber gives up its water.

- Shake hard until well chilled.
- Double strain into a chilled martini glass; garnish with a cucumber slice on the rim and a basil leaf.
Panel note
Half an ounce of Chartreuse is the ceiling. It is 55 percent and carries 130 botanicals, and at three quarters it stops seasoning the drink and starts being the drink.
