42 by Don Julio, a tequila venue backed by spirits group Diageo, opened inside Crown Towers Perth on September 25, 2026, and PerthNow reported that Perth influencers turned out for the launch of the 35-seat bar.
Crown Resorts, which owns and operates the Crown Perth casino and hotel complex in Burswood, Western Australia, billed the venue as Australia's first permanent branded bar built around Don Julio 1942 tequila. The opening was confirmed in a joint announcement from Crown Perth and Diageo on September 15, 2026, ahead of the launch ten days later.
What the bar actually offers
The venue sits inside TWR, the lounge area at Crown Towers Perth, and holds 35 seats. It is open Thursday from 5:30pm to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 1am, and from 5pm until late on Sunday. The food menu runs to a small list of bites, including tuna tostadas, Wagyu empanadas and a bespoke caviar experience, alongside a cocktail list described by Crown Perth as the work of international mixologists built around Don Julio 1942.
Where it fits in Crown Perth's lineup
The bar joins a Crown Perth food and beverage roster that already runs to more than 30 bars and restaurants, including Rockpool, Gladstones and the Urban Food District food hall. Crown Towers has further additions planned for 2027, when two restaurants from Michelin-starred chefs Björn Frantzén and Pichaya Soontornyanakij are due to open on the property.
What Diageo and Crown Perth said
Sarah Shimmons, Diageo's Marketing and Innovation Director, said the launch marked a milestone for the brand, noting that Don Julio 1942 has featured in celebrations around the world and that bringing the concept to Crown Perth was a significant moment for the label. Crown Perth chief executive Brian Pereira said the venue gives guests another reason to stay longer at the resort and frames it as part of Crown's ongoing effort to build out its premium hospitality and entertainment offering in Perth.
The tequila behind the name
Don Julio 1942 is produced by Tequila Don Julio, the Diageo owned house named for founder Don Julio González, who began making tequila in 1942. The expression is produced in small batches and aged for a minimum of two and a half years, according to material from the bar's launch coverage. Diageo has not published additional production detail tied specifically to the Crown Perth venue beyond what appeared in the opening announcements.
What this means
This is a marketing and hospitality story rather than a production one: nothing in the coverage speaks to sourcing, distillation or any change to the liquid itself, only to a new retail setting for an existing bottle. Don Julio 1942 Añejo carries a TW Score of 61 of 95 in Tequila Watch's database, a figure unrelated to the opening and not something any outlet covering the bar has addressed.
