Tequila Partida and the South Carolina retailer Southern Spirits released Partida Roble Fino Single Barrel Añejo on October 2, 2026, a one time bottling of 138 units finished at 54.5 percent alcohol by volume, or 109 proof, selling for $199.99 a bottle.

The expression comes from Partida's Maestro Tequilero, José Valdez Reynoso, and was unveiled at a launch event held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern at Southern Spirits in Indian Land, South Carolina, according to a joint announcement distributed through PR Newswire and picked up by BevNET. Valdez Reynoso appeared at the event. The bottle is sold online and in person, though in person purchase is restricted to South Carolina residents; buyers elsewhere must travel to the store to pick one up, per the companies' release.

How the single barrel was aged

The liquid began as Partida's standard Añejo, matured for 26 months in an American oak barrel that had previously held Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey for three years. It was then moved into a second cask for a six month finish: a sherry single malt barrel that had held Oloroso sherry for three years and single malt Scotch whisky for 24 years before that, according to the release. The bottling was drawn straight from that one barrel rather than blended, which is what makes it a single barrel release and caps the run at 138 bottles. Once those sell out, the companies said the expression will not be made again.

How the collaboration came together

The project traces back to October 2024, when Southern Spirits says it approached Partida about building a barrel selection exclusive to the retailer, according to the store's own product listing. Valdez Reynoso agreed, and the retailer describes close to two years passing between that pitch and the finished product reaching shelves, covering barrel aging, label development and regulatory approval. In the companies' statement, Valdez Reynoso said the release draws on more than two decades of refining Tequila Partida, paired with the selection of the two casks and the timing of each maturation stage. He added that the Añejo keeps what he described as the brand's clean agave character and mineral notes while layering in complexity from the two different woods.

Tequila Partida's background and the Roble Fino line

Tequila Partida has produced in the Jalisco highlands since 2005 under NOM 1502, using 100 percent blue Weber agave, and operates under the Lucas Bols Company. Roble Fino is the brand's cask finished line, built around a standard Añejo that spends 18 months in ex bourbon barrels before a shorter secondary rest in sherry seasoned single malt casks, a concept Valdez Reynoso has said grew out of a trip to Scotland. The line already includes a Reposado, a filtered Reposado Cristalino and the standard Añejo, the last of which Wine Enthusiast previously named the best tequila under $150, according to Partida's October 2024 announcement of its first single barrel Añejo program, which offered 30 individually selected barrels to bars, restaurants and retailers nationwide. The Southern Spirits bottle is a continuation of that program rather than a new product line.

What this means

Retailer exclusive single barrels are a familiar marketing device in bourbon and have become more common in aged tequila, where a cask finish and a low count can justify pricing well above a brand's standard Añejo. Partida's own standard Blanco carries a TW Score of 60 of 95 in this publication's database, a baseline worth knowing before weighing whether a $200 single cask variant represents the brand at its best or simply at its most limited.
