Sierra Tequila secured a nationwide listing with Lidl UK in July 2025 for its canned Margarita range, giving the Stock Spirits Group brand its first placement in a major British supermarket chain.

The Spirits Business reported the listing on 16 July 2025, describing it as the ready-to-drink line's debut in major UK grocery retail after a staged rollout that began in Germany that spring. Stock Spirits said further distribution at Aldi was planned for later in the summer.

What the Lidl listing covers

The cans come in lime and strawberry flavors, made with blanco tequila and set at 6 percent ABV, with a 250ml can carrying a recommended retail price of £2.49, roughly $3.30. The Margaritas had launched in Germany in April 2025 before reaching UK convenience stores and Amazon in May, then Lidl shelves nationwide two months later. Aldi was named as the next planned UK retailer for the range.

Who owns Sierra and how the RTDs got to market

Sierra Tequila has been part of Poland-based Stock Spirits Group's portfolio since July 2023, when the group acquired German distiller Borco, Sierra's longtime owner. Stock Spirits deepened its UK footprint in April 2025 by acquiring The Drinks Company, the independent importer and distributor that had represented Sierra in Britain since 1997, bringing UK distribution of the brand under the group's direct control. Rob Curteis, managing director of The Drinks Company, said the Lidl deal followed a strong reception for the RTD's earlier UK launch, calling the expansion into one of the country's leading retailers an important new distribution channel for the brand. Stock Spirits CEO Jean-Christophe Coutures had framed the distributor acquisition as central to the group's ambition to become a leading spirits company in Europe by 2027.

How the launch fits into tequila's RTD moment

The Lidl listing arrived as premixed cocktails, including spirits-based ready-to-drink drinks, were one of the few growth pockets in an otherwise soft spirits market. Figures reported by CNBC from the Distilled Spirits Council of the US showed premixed cocktail sales rising more than 16 percent to $3.8 billion in 2025, even as US tequila and mezcal sales fell 4.1 percent to $6.4 billion over the same period. Stock Spirits has continued building on the Lidl placement since: Sierra's RTDs later reached WHSmith travel-retail locations, the brand launched a 100 percent agave bottle range in March 2026, and it ran an on-pack promotion with Tesco in April 2026 offering a trip to Cancún.

What this means

Sierra's canned Margaritas sit outside the 100 percent agave category this database evaluates, so no comparison to bottled tequila purity or scoring applies here. What is worth watching is whether Stock Spirits treats the Lidl and Aldi listings as a bridge into its newer, separately labeled 100 percent agave bottle range, since the RTD and the premium bottles are marketed as distinct tiers of the same brand.
