Pantalones Organic Tequila, the brand fronted by Matthew and Camila McConaughey, has released a limited-edition cooler made with Yeti. Called 'A Lot Cooler,' it is a customized version of Yeti's Roadie 24 hard cooler, finished in a desert-toned colorway with Pantalones branding, and it went up for preorder on both companies' websites in late July at $250. The unit is built to hold a full case, six bottles, of Pantalones tequila.
The drop is the newest chapter in Pantalones' running 'Official Tequila Of' ad campaign and leans on a McConaughey catchphrase from the 1993 film Dazed and Confused, the one about things being cooler if you did them. A companion spot shows McConaughey and his wife on a truck tailgate with the cooler and a margarita, the kind of lifestyle placement the brand has used repeatedly since launch.
The business behind the branding
The tie-up is not a one-off. McConaughey co-owns Major League Soccer's Austin FC, and Yeti is the jersey sponsor for that same club, while Pantalones already holds the title of Austin FC's official tequila. The cooler collaboration effectively closes a loop among three properties McConaughey has a stake in or a marketing deal with, all headquartered in or near Austin, Texas.
What is actually in the bottle
Pantalones launched in late 2023 and moved to national distribution through Southern Glazer's Wine and Spirits in September 2024, with a suggested retail range starting near 45 dollars for the blanco and running to roughly 55 dollars for the añejo. The company has said its tequila is produced by a family-owned distillery in Amatitán, Jalisco, though it has not published that distillery's NOM registration. The brand markets itself as USDA certified organic and reported selling more than 100,000 cases within its first two years, according to Forbes. A limited Extra Añejo, aged roughly three years and finished in Texas bourbon barrels, was added to the lineup for the 2025 holiday season at just under 100 dollars. The company's co-founders, Andrew Chrisomalis and Guillaume Cuvelier, previously built Aviation Gin with Ryan Reynolds under their firm Davos Brands, giving Pantalones an operating team with prior celebrity-spirits experience.
Pantalones does not currently appear in our blind-scored database. We have not tasted or tested the blanco, reposado, añejo or the new Extra Añejo, and we cannot assign it a purity status. The organic certification the brand advertises speaks to farming practice, not to whether the finished spirit contains additives, which is a separate question our panel tests independently.
Where this fits in the celebrity-tequila pattern
Merchandise collaborations like this one are now a standard tool for celebrity-founded tequila houses, and marketing spend has not historically tracked with blind-tasting results in our database. Teremana Blanco, fronted by Dwayne Johnson, scored 83 and carries a Verified Pure rating in our testing. Casamigos, the George Clooney brand often cited alongside Pantalones as a template for celebrity spirits, scored in the high 70s across its range and remains Unverified in our records. 818 Tequila, founded by Kendall Jenner, scored 81 for its blanco with a Verified Pure rating. The spread shows that a strong ad campaign and a splashy product collaboration say nothing on their own about what is in the glass, which is exactly the gap our blind panel exists to close.
What we are watching
We are tracking whether Pantalones submits any of its expressions, including the new Extra Añejo, for independent purity testing rather than relying on its organic certification alone. We want to see the actual sellout or allocation numbers for the Yeti cooler once preorders close, since none have been published yet. We are also watching whether the brand discloses the NOM number for its Amatitán distillery, and whether the Asia expansion Pantalones announced earlier this year produces case-volume figures that can be checked against the 100,000-case mark it has already claimed domestically.
