Hacien Tequila, a flavoured tequila producer based in Leeds, England, raised more than £312,000 (about $416,500) in equity crowdfunding within 24 hours, The Spirits Business reported on October 19, 2026.
The money came from 24 investors on the Republic Europe platform, where Hacien is offering 6.63 percent equity in exchange for the raise. The total puts the campaign at 91 percent of its £343,000 target, with the window still open for additional investment.
What the crowdfunding numbers show
According to The Spirits Business, the campaign had collected £312,498 ($416,525) from two dozen backers as of the report date, against a stated goal of £343,000 ($457,000). That leaves roughly £30,500 ($40,650) to close out the round. Hacien first signalled its intention to raise outside capital in July 2026, several months before the 24 hour figure was recorded.
How Hacien has raised money before
Hacien was founded in Leeds in 2019 by Seb Francis and Jordan Myers, who set out to build a flavoured, 100 percent agave tequila brand for the UK market. The company first raised outside capital in 2021, when a food and drink trade report described the business as having hit its target to raise £500,000 to help launch its range of premium crafted tequilas. That raise brought in backers including Doug Bouton, a co-founder of the ice cream brand Halo Top. More recently, Just Drinks reported in November 2025 that Hacien had taken on backing from Slingsby Gin founder Mike Carthy, though the publication noted the exact value of the cash injection was not disclosed. By the time the current Republic Europe campaign launched, Hacien said it had raised £800,000 to date, including significant founder investment, according to The Spirits Business.
What the new funds are earmarked for
Hacien has said the proceeds of the current round will support brand and e-commerce growth, UK distribution, international market entry, and inventory to meet rising demand, per The Spirits Business. Earlier reporting on the campaign's launch specified that international plans include a confirmed listing with Spinneys, the premium retailer in the United Arab Emirates. Hacien founder Seb Francis said of the pace of the raise that it told the company "people believe in this category," and that backers believe in the direction the brand is building, according to The Spirits Business.
The product range and the category Hacien is chasing
Hacien's original 2021 lineup consisted of three expressions, a Tequila Blanco, a Pineapple Tequila Blanco and a Tequila Añejo Cristalino, each bottled at 38 percent ABV, with the Blanco and Pineapple Blanco priced at an RRP of £35 per 700ml bottle and the Añejo Cristalino at £75, according to The Spirits Business. The company added three more flavoured expressions, Coffee, Lemon & Lime and Summer Berries, to the portfolio in 2025. Hacien has positioned itself inside a UK tequila market that The Spirits Business, citing Market Research Future data, reported is projected to reach £1.25 billion by 2035, with flavoured tequila framed by the company as a largely untapped segment of that growth.
What this means
Equity crowdfunding totals reported mid campaign are a snapshot, not a close. The remaining nine percent of Hacien's target, the final investor count, and the company's resulting valuation have not yet been confirmed in any account reviewed here. Flavoured tequila, built on added fruit, coffee or citrus components, sits outside the category of unflavoured blanco, reposado and añejo expressions that occupies most of this publication's bottle database, so no comparison to a scored bottle applies.
