Dos Hombres, the agave spirits brand founded by actors Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston, released a reposado tequila on September 3, 2026, its second tequila expression after a blanco introduced in May, according to the brand and BevNET.

The reposado is bottled at 40 percent ABV and carries a suggested retail price of $49.99 per 750 milliliter bottle, matching the price the brand had set for the expression when it first announced the tequila line in April. Production runs through Tequilera Tap Distillery, NOM 1614, in Amatitán, Jalisco, under maestro tequilero Julio Cova.

How the Reposado Is Made and Aged

Dos Hombres Reposado is made from 100 percent Blue Weber agave and what the brand describes as deep earth volcanic water, cooked in a combination of autoclaves and traditional brick ovens before extended open air fermentation and double distillation in copper and stainless steel stills, the company said in its launch announcement carried by BevNET.

The barrel program is the headline detail. The Spirits Business reported that the finished reposado spent three months in first-fill Four Roses American oak barrels and then rested an additional 30 days in stainless steel before bottling. That is shorter than the timeline the brand had described earlier in the year: The Spirits Business's own June interview with Cranston and Paul described the reposado as matured for four months in the same first-fill Four Roses barrels, and trade newsletter The Tequila Report later noted the release was aged three months after the team had originally planned for four. Neither outlet has published a reason for the change.

Cova, quoted by The Spirits Business, said the choice of first-fill barrels created a tequila that stays layered while still letting the agave come through, and that the added rest afterward ties the oak, fruit and spice notes together.

Who Makes Dos Hombres Tequila and Where

Cova came out of retirement to lead production for Dos Hombres, according to The Spirits Business, after nearly 40 years making tequila. The Tequila Report, a trade newsletter, has reported additional background: that Cova retired on July 31, 2025, following roughly 15 years working with the Beckmann family at Casa Cuervo, and that he asked the distillery's board for permission to come back specifically to work on the Dos Hombres project.

Tequilera Tap Distillery is not exclusive to Dos Hombres. Food & Wine, in coverage syndicated by AOL, reported that the same NOM 1614 facility also makes Tres Agaves and Cazcanes, and Yahoo Entertainment noted it is the distillery behind Matthew McConaughey's Pantalones Tequila as well.

How Dos Hombres Financed the Move Beyond Mezcal

Dos Hombres launched as a mezcal brand in July 2019, made in San Luis del Río, Oaxaca, and has been mezcal focused until this year's move into tequila, The Spirits Business reported. The Spirits Business also reported that in 2021 the brand sold a minority stake to Constellation Brands, the US company that owns High West Whiskey and several beer labels.

A second, separate raise followed in December 2025: trade outlet Drinks Times reported that Dos Hombres closed a $15 million minority-stake investment round, with Constellation Brands, an investor since 2021, remaining on board alongside Mexican partners Fernando Romero-Luna and mezcalero Gregorio Velasco. Dos Hombres said in its own announcement that proceeds would go toward distribution, sales and field resources, and a portfolio expansion that included a series of new releases set to debut in 2026. That expansion produced the tequila blanco in May, priced at $39.99, the reposado now on shelves at $49.99, and an añejo the brand has told outlets including The Spirits Business it plans to release in 2027.

Dos Hombres tequila does not yet appear in Tequila Watch's scored database, so no four-pillar figure exists for either the blanco or this reposado. Worth watching: the shared production site. Cazcanes No.7 Blanco, made at the same Tequilera Tap Distillery, carries a TW Score of 89 of 95 and Verified Organic certification, a fact about that distillery's other output, not a claim about what is in the Dos Hombres bottle. The barrel-timeline discrepancy and the promised 2027 añejo are the two threads worth tracking as more detail becomes public.
