Cincoro Tequila, the luxury brand co-founded by a group of NBA team owners, announced on November 4, 2026 the launch of a limited edition called Añejo Reserva, a blend built around añejo aged more than 28 months in Tennessee whiskey barrels, timed for the holiday shopping season.

The announcement came via a PR Newswire release credited to Cincoro Tequila. Co-founder and CEO Emilia Fazzalari said she and co-founder Michael Jordan personally taste every batch before bottling, and Jordan said in the same release that he set out to make Añejo Reserva something special and was proud of the result.

What goes into the Añejo Reserva blend

According to the release, Añejo Reserva starts with Blue Weber agave grown in both the highland and lowland zones of Jalisco, the same dual sourcing Cincoro uses across its existing línea. That añejo component matures for more than 28 months in Tennessee whiskey barrels before being blended with Cincoro's own Extra Añejo, the oldest tequila in its regular lineup. The finished bottle ships in white and gold packaging with an agave motif, which Cincoro is positioning as gift packaging rather than everyday shelf stock. Retail listings for the expression, including one from the online retailer The Barrel Tap, show it at 40 percent alcohol by volume, or 80 proof, a standard strength across Cincoro's portfolio. That same listing priced the bottle at 154.99 dollars for a 750 milliliter bottle, though Cincoro's own release did not publish a national price or confirm which markets will carry it beyond directing buyers to the company's website.

Who owns Cincoro Tequila

Cincoro was founded in 2019 by five NBA team owners who had bonded over tequila at a 2016 dinner in New York: Michael Jordan, Jeanie Buss of the Los Angeles Lakers, Wes Edens of the Milwaukee Bucks, and Wyc Grousbeck and Emilia Fazzalari of the Boston Celtics. The brand's name is a portmanteau of the Spanish words for five and gold. In 2023, Cincoro expanded its ownership group to include additional athletes such as Derek Jeter and Serena Williams. The tequila itself is produced at Destiladora del Valle de Tequila, also known as Casa Maestri, under NOM 1438 in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, according to multiple retailer production pages, though Cincoro's own release for Añejo Reserva did not restate that distillery detail.

Cincoro's run of limited drops

Añejo Reserva is the latest in a string of limited Cincoro releases rather than a first for the brand. In February 2026, Cincoro and the Los Angeles Lakers released a purple and gold Lakers Añejo selected by Jeanie Buss, aged more than 20 months and priced at 139.99 dollars, sold exclusively in Southern California. Cincoro has also released a Travis Scott collaboration under the Cactus Jack name, an añejo aged 26 months in Tennessee whiskey barrels, and a chrome finished Añejo Cristalino tied to the brand's fifth anniversary. The company has also sold a half gallon Founders Reserve Extra Añejo signed by the five founders. None of those prior releases disclosed third party certification or independent composition analysis, and Añejo Reserva's own release does not either.

What this means

Our bottle database lists Cincoro Añejo at 55 of 95 and Cincoro Blanco at 54 of 95, among the lower scores we have published, and neither carries a certification on file. Añejo Reserva is a new blend built from stock already in that lineup, so it has not yet been scored, and what is not yet known is whether Cincoro will submit it for review or disclose further production detail beyond what the launch release provided.
