Dos Hombres, the agave spirits brand co-founded by actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, released a reposado tequila on September 3, 2026, aged in first-fill Four Roses bourbon barrels shipped from Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.
The release extends a line that began in April 2026 with a blanco expression, the brand's first tequila after seven years of producing only mezcal. Dos Hombres was founded in 2019 by Cranston and Paul with maestro mezcalero Gregorio Velasco, and the company now carries a minority investment from Constellation Brands, according to Robb Report.
How the reposado is made
A reposado is a tequila rested in wood for a defined period before bottling, distinguishing it from unaged blanco and longer aged anejo styles. According to Robb Report, the Dos Hombres version starts from agave pinas cooked in a combination of autoclaves and brick ovens, then double distilled in copper and stainless steel stills. The spirit was aged in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels from Four Roses before spending 30 days in stainless steel vats to settle prior to bottling. Robb Report and Yahoo both reported the barrel rest at three months, while earlier company materials distributed at the April 2026 launch, cited by BevNet and Men's Journal, described a four month aging plan. The bottling is priced at 50 dollars and sold at 40 percent alcohol by volume, per Robb Report and BevNet.
Who distills Dos Hombres tequila
The tequila is produced at Tequilera Tap Distillery in Amatitan, Jalisco, under veteran distiller Julio Cova, who spent more than 40 years in the industry, including time at Casa Cuervo, before stepping back from the business, according to Forbes. Cranston and Paul brought Cova out of that retirement to develop the Dos Hombres tequila expressions. The same facility also produces Cazcanes and Matthew and Camila McConaughey's Pantalones Tequila, Men's Journal and AOL reported.
Why Four Roses barrels
Tequila Report, which covered the brand's development ahead of the April 2026 blanco launch, reported that Dos Hombres ran a blind tasting of tequila aged in Four Roses, Jack Daniel's and Jim Beam barrels, with Cranston, Paul, Cova and the wider team participating, and that Four Roses won unanimously. The outlet reported the company subsequently bought roughly 300 Four Roses ex-bourbon barrels for the launch, along with a smaller number of Hungarian oak and French oak casks that were still aging tequila at the time of that reporting.
What the founders said
Cranston said in a statement carried by Robb Report and Sip Magazine that the original blanco was meant to show the same attention to craftsmanship in tequila as in the brand's mezcal, and that the reposado let the team add depth to that foundation. Paul added, in the same statement, that the result was smooth and complex while staying recognizably Dos Hombres. Cova, in a statement distributed at the April 2026 launch and reported by BevNet and Fred Minnick, said he was drawn back to work partly because he connected with Cranston and Paul's approach to craft.
What this means
Dos Hombres has not published an independent composition analysis of the reposado, and none is cited in the coverage reviewed here. The Tequilera Tap facility's other output offers some context: Cazcanes No.7 Blanco, made at the same distillery, carries a published TW Score of 89 of 95 and Verified Organic certification in this publication's database. That is a fact about a different bottling from the same producer, not a claim about Dos Hombres itself, which remains unrated pending its own review.
