Black Tiger Distilleries has introduced Bodega Suprema No. 5, a three expression tequila line built specifically for Indian shelves, according to The Spirits Business. The range launched in Mumbai with a blanco, reposado and anejo, each bottled at 38 percent ABV, a notch below the 40 percent standard common in the United States and Mexico.
The tequila is made in partnership with Productos Finos de Agave, a Jalisco producer based in Jesus Maria, and distributed domestically through Mansha Group of Companies, which the report describes as one of India's established spirits distributors. It is the first release from Black Tiger, a company incorporated in Mumbai in January 2025 under founder Mohnish Mehta, according to Indian corporate registry records.
A Bet on India's Tequila Curve
The launch leans on a specific growth claim: The Spirits Business cited IWSR data showing Indian tequila volumes expanded at a 32 percent compound annual rate between 2019 and 2025, with a further 13 percent rise forecast through 2030. That is a steep curve off a small base, and it is the kind of number that has drawn established houses into the market well before a domestic bottling operation like this one existed. Black Tiger's pitch, echoed by its distribution partner, is that pricing on imported tequila remains high for Indian consumers and that assortment on shelves is thin. Productos Finos de Agave operates under NOM 1416 in Jesus Maria, in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco. It is not a boutique operation. The same NOM number has for years supplied Casamigos and Avion, and multiple retail listings tie it to Clase Azul as well.
