Bacardi Global Travel Retail added Dubai International Airport to its Patrón El Alto and Ushuaïa Ibiza summer promotion in 2026, extending a campaign that first ran across airports in the United Kingdom and Spain in 2025.
According to Global Travel Retail Magazine and the duty free trade outlet DFNI, the 2026 edition centred on a prize draw called the Ultimate Ibiza Weekender, sending one winner to the island's season closing parties at Ushuaïa Ibiza, UNVRS and Hï Ibiza, three venues tied to the Ibiza nightlife operator behind the Ushuaïa brand.
What the Ultimate Ibiza Weekender prize included
Trained brand ambassadors poured Patrón El Alto neat for travelers passing through participating airports, and anyone who bought a bottle could enter the competition through a dedicated online portal, DFNI reported. Point of sale materials included collectible Patrón bee tags and matching Ushuaïa and Patrón charms. The mechanism built on the 2025 version of the campaign, in which entry ran through a QR code printed on an invitation card inside the Patrón El Alto gift box.
The prize itself grew between seasons. In 2025, winners received return flights, a two night stay at the Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel and backstage access to the venue's Ants party series, according to The Spirits Business and the Moodie Davitt Report. The 2026 version widened the destination list to three closing parties across Ushuaïa Ibiza, UNVRS and Hï Ibiza, per DFNI's account of the expanded activation.
What Patrón El Alto is
Patrón El Alto is the super premium tequila expression at the center of the campaign, introduced by Bacardi in 2024. Global Drinks Intel reported that the liquid is a blend weighted toward four year old añejo and extra añejo tequilas, made from 100 percent Weber Blue Agave and aged across eleven different barrel types, primarily American and French oak. Since its launch, the expression has collected gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the BevTest Awards and the Latin American Spirits Competition, according to DFNI and TRBusiness.
How the Ushuaïa partnership has grown since 2024
Bacardi's travel retail push for Patrón El Alto began with a standalone pop-up at Heathrow Terminal 5 that ran from December 2024 into January 2025, marking the expression's European launch in that channel, DFNI reported at the time. The tie-up with Ushuaïa Ibiza followed the next summer: Bacardi Global Travel Retail announced the partnership in July 2025, running the campaign across airports in Spain and the United Kingdom, as reported by The Spirits Business and the Moodie Davitt Report.
At that 2025 launch, Darragh Ryan, Marketing Director of Bacardi Global Travel Retail, described the tie-up as a chance to champion "a new era of luxury tequila in European travel retail." The 2026 season kept that framing while adding Dubai International Airport for the first time, a market Bacardi had not previously included in the Ushuaïa activation, according to DFNI's November 3, 2026 report on the expanded rollout.
What this means
Patrón El Alto itself sits outside Tequila Watch's current database, which instead tracks the brand's more widely distributed expressions: Patrón Silver carries a TW Score of 64 of 95, with Patrón Añejo, Reposado and Extra Añejo 10 Años also scored. None of those figures speak to El Alto, and nothing in the travel retail coverage addresses production disclosures for the new expression beyond the barrel and agave details Bacardi has published.
