An añejo swapped in for whiskey makes a rich, agave-driven Old Fashioned. Best with a dry, oak-balanced añejo rather than a sweet one.

2 oz añejo tequila
0.25 oz agave nectar
2 dashes aromatic bitters
Orange peel
Method
- Stir tequila, agave, and bitters with ice until chilled.
- Strain over a large cube.
- Express an orange peel over the top and drop it in.
Panel note
A Verified Pure blanco changes this drink completely. Sweetened tequila reads as syrup here; a clean spirit reads as agave.
